3d-Radar offer advanced ground
penetrating radars for high-resolution subsurface mapping. The innovative
ground penetrating radar generates high-resolution 3-dimensional images of
buried objects and natural interface layers down to 2-3 metres depth. By using
a 2.4 meter wide electronically scanning ultra-wideband antenna array, the
GeoScope collects data much faster than the traditional GPR surveying methods.
The GeoScope TM GPR system can be
connected to different antenna arrays. This is a multi-purpose 3D GPR system
suitable for many applications. The system can easily be configured for
anything between fast road surveys at 90 km/h (55 Mph) and high-resolution
utility mapping or bridge deck concrete inspection at low speed.

Prestigious new-build and
refurbishment projects rely on materials from BASF Construction Chemicals for
performance and durability, from composite strengthening systems and cathodic
protection to sealants, coatings, concrete repair materials and grouts.
Under the Thoro brand, BASF
Construction Chemicals has developed its own unique, patented, spray applied,
polymer modified, conductive, cementitious anode, Thoro CP Anode 60. Based upon
a specially formulated, polymer modified, sprayed cementitious mortar the
impressed anodic current is efficiently and evenly distributed over the whole
surface of the structure to be protected.
BASF’s exciting new generation of concrete
repair mortars with outstanding characteristics - EmacoR Nanocrete - is. proven
to exceed all the technical requirements of European Norm EN 1504, guaranteeing
performance levels by providing reference to identification and performance
tests for a standardised approach to the design and execution of concrete
repairs. The improved cementitious Nano-structures of Nanocrete improve the
properties of the hardened mortar, giving durability and technical performance.
BASF's systems for structural faults
and repairs include MBRACER composite strengthening systems. More than simply
an economical, field-proven technology for structural strengthening, MBRACER
provides single source support from specification through to completion.
MBRACER offers superior strength and
resistance to corrosion while being aesthetically unobtrusive, and causes
little disruption during installation. Reinforcements are made of
uni-directional (UD) fabrics and tows of fibres of pultruded plates for which
all the reinforcing fibres are in the same direction. This gives the required
additional tensile strength and stiffness in the same direction as those
already provided by the steel reinforcing bars inside the concrete.

Introduction:
As part of the
group Kongsberg Mesotech Ltd. was formed in 1973 to design and manufacture
underwater acoustic equipment. Today the Company supplies a range of products
for various applications. Ongoing research and development has ensured the
Company's position as a world-leader in high-resolution sonar systems, and
acoustic technology.
MS 1071 SCANNING SONAR: BRIDGE PIER INSPECTION
Operational success of
the scanning sonar means a host of possibilities exist in support of marine
oriented, civil engineering projects.
Numerous bridges, dams
and tunnels are reaching the age where the condition of submerged sections of
the structures is being questioned some have not been inspected since their
construction.
Solution:
Tests proved that the Kongsberg scanning sonar system would
detect irregularities on a flat concrete surface. The sonar test returns
indicated that construction joints and spaulling were easily detected using
this method. Profiles were then generated to quantify the image data, and
determine the amount of sediment erosion adjacent to the bridge abutment.
